A Baker's Dozen

I wanted to share some cards Susan just finished up. She coached the little girls Upwards cheerleading team at her church this past winter and wanted to send each of her girls a special card. She made each little paperdoll look like the real girl! I curled a bunch of yarn for her to make their pom-poms with. Susan put so much work into theses cards and I think they are super adorable!!!! (I'm not just sayin that because she's my BFF!) Didn't she do a fantastic job?!!! She stickled over each girl's name so they are very glittery and fun.
She of course used Every Day Paper Dolls for the girls and Lyrical Letters for their names.

And now to make the baker's dozen complete, here's a thank you card I made yesterday. I actually made two, I was having a very indecisive day for sure!
The bunch of flowers is from Kate's ABC and was cut out with pages from a book of Shakespeare's works.(quick! who can tell me what tragedy I used????)  I hand dyed each layer with my alcohol inks because I knew I didn't have that many coordinating shades of pink. The thank you is from Cindy Loo. I decorated the inside of the card with a small orange flower and a bow made from my ribbon seam binding-would've shown this, but the pic turned out horrible!

Hope you all have a fantastic and blessed day!

Oh so sweet!

I finally had a chance to play with my Kate's ABC cartridge on Sunday. I don't have little kids around anymore but I just couldn't resist this one! Thank you Missy for enabling me! I decided to make this sweet little girl reading a kitty book and this precious kitten chasing a butterfly. I figure I can put pictures of my daughter (who is 19) and her kitty on the pages. The papers used on these is from so many collections in my stash, so I'm not even going to try and list them all. I was so thrilled with how well everything cut and it went together pretty easily. Of course I had to add all my bling too. The centers of all the flowers are itty bitty little glittered brads I picked up at Hobby Lobby-purrrrfect!

Hope you all have a great night!

Shrinky-Dinks on a layout and a FREE cartridge!

Hi everyone! Happy St. Patricks Day! (I'm totally slacking today!) I made this layout yesterday and decided to try something different for the title. I used plain shriky-dink "paper," cut it out with my cricut, colored with my alcohol inks and finally shruk them with my heat gun. I know they're not perfect, the words didn't want to cooperate with me too much while I shrank them, but I decided to use the title anyhow.
The word Fancy, was stamped with an alphabet set I have. This is my daughter's favorite thing to say, so it had to be on here!
The paper and tag are from a collection by Basic Grey. I lightly brushed clear glossy accents around the edges of the turquoise mats and then sprinkled turquoise glitter on it before it dried, I just wanted to add a little sparkle around the pictures. I also hand pleated some light blue silk ribbon to the photo in the picture above. This picture of my daughter was taken at the New Year's Eve party where she was set up to meet her new boyfriend. He gave her this picture, complete with the note, in a beautiful frame for Valentine's Day. I scanned it and made a copy of course!

Remember, we have a special Blog-Birthday drawing coming up next week. I'll be giving away a 3 Birds on Parade cartridge. Please see this post for more info. So far we only have 3 names in the drawing...great odds there girls!!!!

Have a super fabulous St. Patty's Day!

A present for you on our 1st Birthday!

Well it's officially been a year since 2 Krafty Girls started blogging! Yippee-Skippy!
In honor of this occasion a very dear friend has donated a wonderful surprise! {Thank you dear friend who does not want her name mentioned, you know who you are!}

So what is this grand surprise?  Just look below and you will see...

Yes, you are correct....a Cricut 3 Birds on Parade cartridge!!!!

NOTE: The cart was opened and there are no reward points, but to the best of our knowledge this cart has never been used or linked to a Gypsy. The little black seal is still on the cartridge.

So now you are asking, well how can I win??? All you need to do is leave me a comment and tell me your favorite kind of cake! You don't need to follow me, or jump thru hoops! This is for my dear loyal readers, for without you this blog would only have me.

My son will draw a winner on March the 20th-the first day of Spring! Please submit your comment by midnight on the 19th.

Thank you all for your wonderful support and comments over the past year. I am so thrilled to have you all here (or I would be forever just talking to myself here on the web!)

Have a very blessed day!

Paper Flower Fun

Today I made my first box top paper flower and I'm hooked! I saw this tutorial last night and just had to try it! It's so easy! I didn't have double sided paper that I wanted to use for the flower so I used some single sided paper and sprayed the white side with a mixture of water, alcohol ink and pearl powder, I love how that turned out, and I will be doing this more often.

The paper I used is a collection called "Melody Ross" by GCD Studios This paper is so me! The alcohol ink colors were pink sherbert and watermellon. I cut my scalloped circles at 4" and then 3.5 inches.

A couple of weeks ago I also watched this tutorial on how to make a paper rose, so I gave it a try and loved it as well. Roses are my favorite flower after all! I used some flowers I'd cut from an old book. I didn't ink the flower until it was put together, which I will not do next time. Ink / color your layers first....
Ignore the red ribbon in the background please. I am now officially hooked on making paper flowers, it's so easy and fun! I imagine my craft room will be covered in paper flowers very very soon!

Thank you Lasting Memories for the awesome videos!

Have a very blessed day!

It's our Blog-Birthday...how Blogalicious!

Notice anything different??? Yes, I've spent all weekend changing our blog around. I figured since it is 2 Krafty Girl's 1st birthday, why not have a little fun????

I've been brewing on this for a while and then last week when I saw the darling birthday kitty on Kathy's web site Free Pretty Things for You , I knew right then and there a make-over was in the works! You've got to go check out her site, it is just so adorable, she is such a sweet person for letting me use her birthday kitty!!! Here is her adorable link:

I'm still tweaking our blog, trying to get it to look like what I envisioned. So don't be surprised if it changes from moment to moment.....

Have a very HAPPY day!

I want to say Thank You! once again to Shabby Blogs Free Pretty Things, The Graphics Fairy, Pugly Pixel, and Peggy Loves Vintage for all your wonderful images and tutorials! Without you wonderful people this blog would not be possible!

Tweetie Birds and a Chocoholic Hippo!

I've recently picked up crocheting again. It started off with making little flowers to add as embelishments on my projects, then making cat nip filled hearts for my sweet and very spoiled kitties. Now I've moved on to little spring birdies, a hippo, a penguin and some cupcakes. I will NOT be making the hippo again any time soon, it was a lot of work (at least to me!), it was worth it though because it's for a very dear sweet friend of ours. I made the penguin for my dear hubby-it's his mascot, anyone say Linux???? I am really loving the little birds and cupcakes though, they make me smile and giggle every time I see them. My family keeps asking me what they are for, and I have no answer!
Here's a link for the little birds
Here's a link for the hippo  (please DO NOT compare my humble hippo to her's, I'm not even in the same league!)

Have a fantastic day!
